A small island’s town administration is aware that the digitization of the work of administration and the introduction of technologically advanced city management solutions are necessary for its development. At the same time, they realize that the implementation of Smart City models in small towns requires careful planning and focus on simple, affordable and efficient solutions.
THE SOLUTION
Apsolon’s experts helped the city administration prepare the Operational Plan for the development of a Smart City. The city’s goals that can best be achieved by applying technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable solutions, as well as measures that imply digitization of service and management procedures and the strengthening of digital and innovative culture in the citizenry have been recognized. Through citizens’ polling, interviews with city administration, focus groups with members of the public and private sector, some measures have been made and a timeline of their implementation has been elaborated.
THE RESULT
The city today has its own plan that directs it clearly to the goal of becoming “paperless”, open to the ideas of its fellow citizens, transparent and innovative. As its first priority in the implementation of the plan, the city administration has begun creating an innovative digital solution for managing traffic jams at the ferry port.
